Picked up the rest of the items for Thanksgiving today. Was able to snag some pre-cooked drumsticks (dark meat is the only turkey meat worth having) and some nummy goat cheese.
the band was altogether, yes he was alright, the song went on forever

There was a reason stuffing came up as first choice in the poll....

I like a homemade relish but the canned cranberry sauce has to be present or it’s not Thanksgiving...

Discussion about T-Day meal-
"Do you want-"
"I don't care as long as there's stuffing and gravy".

So be it.
I mean, all you get is one trick, rational thinking. But when you're good and crazy, ooh ooh ooh, the sky's the limit!

Okay, so what are people cooking, and what are they ordering in?

I got a "greatest hits" of thanksgiving package from a local restaurant (I could make it all, but they need the business, and I need my sanity):
  • Maple Glazed Turkey
    Gravy
    Cranberry Sauce
Cornbread Stuffing (I prefer regular stuffing, but I'll still eat this)
Candied Yams (Honestly, I wouldn't bother on my own, but... package)
Mixed Vegetables (I guess these are important)
Mac & Cheese (crucial to keep our picky kid fed)
    Fried Plantains (AW YEAH)
    Pecan Pie
Hardough Bread (it's a local Jamaican place)
    Rolls
When looking at options, it seemed like we could either get the traditional thanksgiving stuff I'd prefer/make on my own, and it would be mediocre, OR we could order the stuff that I wouldn't necessarily pick, but it would be prepared super-duper well. I thought option two would fit the spirit of Thanksgiving more, where people show up with random stuff and you just eat what is in front of you. I almost ditched the turkey to just get "Salmon with Coconut Rundown Sauce" but it was expensive, and I wanted the Turkey Bones to make stock with the leftovers.

So, to make sure we get the things we require on Thanksgiving, we're making:
  • Prime Rib
    Green Bean Casserole
    Pumpkin Pie
    Pancit
And that's it!

Ventured all the way into Lexington Center to the standard Stop & Shop supermarket to make sure we could get the French’s onion rings for green bean casserole; not something Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods would have. Ian (the ‘other other boy’ of yore, now 30) must have his rings. I’m delivering a food prep box with the fixings tomorrow.

We had been talking duck, but unless I want to go to Chinatown there’s none to be found, though I did see goose and guinea hen among the turkeys.

I’m pretty limited these days; gluten-sensitive, the stuffing, pie crust, even mushroom soup all have wheat, so I don’t do much there. We have gf pie crusts, but really, they suck - no flake whatsoever.

Nouveau Beaujolais is refreshing, I suppose ...
Yep. *that* fduncan. Board-crasher, right-coaster, fat-thumbed grammar nebish
